Indonesian President calls for SMS support for Komodo

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of Indonesia

The president of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, has asked all Indonesians to support Komodo Island, one of the 28 Official Finalists in the New7Wonders of Nature.
The president made the appeal when he was officially inaugurating the new Lombok International Airport. According to The Jakarta Post, he asked the dignitaries present, and Indonesians in general, to vote for Komodo Island via SMS. “Let’s all type KOMODO and send it to 9818,” president Yudhoyono said during the event, which was also attended by former vice president Jusuf Kalla, who has been tasked with generating support for Komodo in the New7Wonders of Nature campaign.

One of the world’s leading mobile texting countries is now switched on to vote for the New7Wonders of Nature. Indonesians can send KOMODO to 9818, and with that vote for Komodo Island to become one of the New7Wonders of Nature.
SMS voting works across the leading networks of Telkomsel and XL, with more networks coming on stream in the next days, and each text costs IDR1000 to send.
